Florida State claims the top spot in latest college baseball Power 10 rankings

The Week 13 college baseball Power 10 rankings are in after another crazy week.

1. Florida State (Prev. 2)

The biggest choice was between LSU and Florida State at No. 1. I went back and forth for a while, and I think you can justify either choice. LSU had a big-time series win over Arkansas, while Florida State won the series over Cal. But this Seminoles team has been knocking on the door for No. 1 for a while now. It’s a power ranking, so why not give them the nod at No. 1 with Texas falling out?

2. LSU (Prev. 4)

LSU is at No. 2. The Tigers two from Arkansas with a 13-3 win on Saturday as Jake Brown homered twice in the win.

3. Texas (Prev. 1)

Texas drops to No. 3 after losing its second straight SEC series. This time, Florida came from behind to even the series in Game 2 and then the Longhorns lost the rubber match.

4. North Carolina (Prev. 2)

North Carolina stays put around four after splitting two games with NC State. The Tar Heels got a big series win against Florida State this weekend to cap off regular season play.

5. Auburn (Prev. 9)

Auburn moves up to No. 5. I’ve been really impressed with the Tigers — a clean sweep of South Carolina with an insane 24 runs scored in Game 1. They belted five homers in the game and held the Gamecocks to two runs.

6. Oregon (Prev. 6)

Oregon is at No. 6. The Ducks swept Washington and will play Iowa to end the regular season of conference play.

7. Arkansas (Prev. 7)

Arkansas is at No. 7 after losing the series to LSU. The Razorbacks did pick up a win in Game 3 at LSU to clinch its eighth consecutive 18-win SEC campaign.

8. Oregon State (Prev. NR)

At No. 8 Oregon State, the Beavers won two over Iowa before the third game ended in a tie due to the travel curfew. Aiva Arquette hit his 17th homer of the season last weekend.

9. Vanderbilt (Prev. 10)

Vanderbilt is at No. 9, picking up a big series win over Tennessee. The Commodores lost Game 1 then won the next two to win the series, winning 7-5 on Sunday after a two-hour rain delay.

10. Georgia (Prev. 5)

Finally, Georgia takes a big drop to No. 10 after losing the series to Alabama. Actually, the Bulldogs ran over Alabama in Game 1, but then lost the next two. They’re holding on to the 10th and final spot for now.
