FAYETTEVILLE —Florida State transfer receiver Jalen Brown has committed to Arkansas after his official visit to Fayetteville.
He arrived at Arkansas around noon Friday and left about noon on Saturday. Receivers coach Ronnie Fouch helped land Brown.
“Just talking to coach and him being real,” Brown said. “All the conversations with coaches and them just being real. Like ‘we need your speed. We want you.’ They’ve got one scholarship left and they’re holding it for me. That means a lot.”
Brown, 6-1 and 174 pounds, started two games and played in nine for the Seminoles last year. He recorded 8 catches for 75 yards. He was humbled that he was given the remaining scholarship.
“It was an honor that team still thinks I’m going to bring a very big aspect to our team and program,” he said. “I’m just going to carry that throughout the season. They wanted me here so I’m going to give them my all.”
He was a consensus 4-star recruit as a senior at Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep. On3.com’s industry ranking listed Brown the No. 13 receiver and the No. 79 overall prospect in the class of 2023. He was the No. 18 prospect in Florida.
Brown recorded 10.65 seconds in the 100 meters and 20.98 seconds in the 200 during the 2022 outdoor season at Gulliver Prep. He looks forward to working with starting quarterback Taylen Green.
“Just watching film on him I like how he keeps his eyes down the field, two hands on the ball looking to pass,” Brown said. “That is real big for me being a receiver.”
He signed with LSU, choosing the Tigers over Miami, Michigan, Georgia, Florida State, Texas, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and others.
Brown redshirted his freshman season at LSU before transferring to Florida State.
He joins former Florida State teammate and Arkansas quarterback signee Trever Jackson in Fayetteville.
