The Kentucky Wildcats are on the board again in the transfer portal, and yet again, it’s a commitment that seemingly came out of nowhere.
According to 247 Sports’ Travis Branham, Kentucky has landed a pledge from Florida Gators guard Denzel Aberdeen, who has since confirmed the news on Twitter.
This past season, Aberdeen averaged 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists for the 2025 NCAA National Champion Gators. He shot 41.5% from the field and 35% from deep across 19.7 minutes per outing. He had back-to-back 20+ point outings in wins over Mississippi State and South Carolina (shot a combined 8/15 from deep), so he’s fully capable of filling it up.
In Florida’s six NCAA Tournament games, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound Aberdeen averaged 6.0 points on 50% shooting (40% from deep) and 1.8 boards across 18.2 minutes per contest. He’s spent the past three seasons with the Gators and has one year of eligibility remaining.
In the national title game, Aberdeen scored seven points on 2/4 shooting (3/4 on free throws) and grabbed two boards as Florida took down Houston 65-63. He primarily played point guard this season but spent time at the 2 and 3 spots, so he’s giving some much-needed depth in the backcourt next season.
With this move, Kentucky may potentially be done in the transfer portal. If Otega Oweh pulls out of the NBA Draft, the Wildcats would have all 13 scholarships accounted for the 2025-26 college basketball season.
