Florida’s transfer portal needs entering spring window, 2025 offseason

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – With a full scholarship roster entering the summer and, per head coach Billy Napier, the vast majority of the team locked up for the season via Name, Image and Likeness deals, Florida does not have much wiggle room to operate within relative to adding talent via the transfer portal.

Of course, that could change if the Gators lose any players to the portal between now and April 25, when the NCAA’s spring transfer window closes. But if Napier’s assertion is to be believed, exits do not appear likely.

“We’ve reached agreements with 98% of the team. So I think we’re just one or two players away from being done, so, as far as the player retention part,” Napier explained Saturday. “Now, we’ll evaluate what becomes available every day going forward. Maybe there’s a situation that can make our team better around, we’ll definitely be aggressive if we feel that way.”
