As is usually the case when it comes to the offseason in college football, things tend to ebb and flow. Players emerge. Players fail to emerge. Injuries happen. South Carolina is no different in this regard to any other college football program in the county and is not immune to player departures. Such is the sudden unfortunate situation at the EDGE/defensive end position for the Gamecocks with redshirt freshman Wendell Gregory hitting the transfer portal in the middle of spring practice and a lower body injury to Missouri transfer Jaylen Brown.
