The Stanford Cardinal now know where both Bachmeier brothers have landed. Bear and Tiger Bachmeier are Big 12 bound – and off to Brigham Young.
The brotherly duo transferred to the Cougars on Saturday, per Pete Thamel of ESPN. The 2025 quarterback Bear committed to BYU in the morning hours. The wide receiver Tiger revealed his intentions to join the same school on Saturday evening.
Bear Bachmeier had practiced with the Cardinal during the week of April 21. But rumblings of his transfer portal entry surfaced during that time. Still, he practiced and took snaps at quarterback in front of interim head coach Frank Reich. Matt Zenitz of 247Sports also reported that Bachmeier was “expected” to place his name into the portal.
However, Stanford tried to pull some retention efforts for the dual-threat passer who became known for wearing No. 47 – a rare collegiate number for a QB. The QB managed to enter the portal right before the spring window closed.

The ’25 QB was a four-star prospect and one of the last signings of the Troy Taylor era. Tiger, meanwhile, was an incoming junior wide receiver for the Cardinal. The elder Bachmeier committed for the 2023 class – making him one of the early Taylor signings. Tiger Bachmeier even earned comparisons to past Stanford WR great Trent Irwin by 247Sports’ Greg Biggins.
“He’s a pure route runner with great hands and high end body control. He runs very well after the catch and is a better athlete than given credit for,” Biggins wrote in his evaluation of the WR.
Tiger had 36 catches for 408 yards and 2 touchdowns, plus a rushing score as a freshman in 2023. Last season, he had just 10 catches for 67 yards but still stood as the leading returner in the WR unit after Elic Ayomanor entered the NFL Draft and both Emmett Mosley V (Texas) and Ismael Cisse (Arkansas) transferred.
Both will now collaborate for the Big 12 university that went 11-2 overall and took second in the conference.
