Former Heisman winner hired by FOX Sports as college football analyst

Former Heisman Trophy winner and ESPN college football analyst Robert Griffin III will be back calling college football games this fall.

Griffin is being hired by FOX Sports to be its No. 2 college football analyst, according to a report from The Athletic. He will replace Brock Huard, who has announced that he is stepping away from calling games.

Robert Griffin III was fired by ESPN last August, just before the start of the college football season. He was originally hired by ESPN in August of 2021.

Griffin played college football at Baylor from 2008-11, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2011. He was tabbed a consensus All-American that season and was also named the AP College Football Player of the Year.

RG3 threw for 4,293 yards and 37 touchdowns during the 2011 season. He also had 699 rushing yards and 10 rushing scores.

The other Heisman finalists that year were Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, Wisconsin running back Montee Ball, Alabama running back Trent Richardson and LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu.

Following his sensational 2011 season, Griffin declared for the 2012 NFL Draft. He ended up being selected No. 2 overall by the Washington Redskins.

Griffin’s NFL career got off to a strong start as he was named the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. However, injuries kept him from ever reaching his full potential.
