Former Kentucky player Tre Mitchell says Louisville fans are best in college basketball

What a June gift from the content gods.

During an interview with The Field of 68, new Louisville signee Sananda Fru said that he was told by a teammate in Germany that Cardinal fans are the “best in the world.” That teammate? Former Kentucky forward Tre Mitchell.

“I think they have a great fan base,” Fru said. “My teammate, he played at Kentucky last year, he told me ‘Louisville, like, they’ve got the best fans in the whole world, basically.’ They’ve already reached out and sent me some DMs. I’m super thankful, super happy, and I can’t wait to get over and touch down in Louisville.”

When asked which former Kentucky player told him this, Fru confirmed that it was Mitchell, who suited up for the Wildcats during the 2023-24 season. The German big man also said that while Mitchell took some rivalry shots, he told Fru that he believed he would be a great fit at Louisville.

Now some Kentucky fans might question the validity of that quote since Mitchell’s one season of experience in the rivalry featured a Louisville team that won eight games and a Battle of the Bluegrass contest that had more blue inside the KFC Yum Center than any other. Those fans are simply out of touch with reality.

Clearly, Mitchell was blown away by the class and dignity shown by the Louisville fans who were inside the Yum Center that day, and disgusted by the actions of the folks in blue. Clearly, he was embarrassed by the way BBN treated John Calipari. Clearly, he recognized that Calipari was bigger himself than the UK brand. Clearly, that quote was 100 percent said and is a completely scientific piece of evidence when it comes to which side of this rivalry fans the best.

If you believe anything different, you’re simply a sheep living in a different dimension.

Thank you for speaking truth to power, Tre.
