
Former MLB shortstop Rafael Furcal is facing two felony charges in South Florida, according to Broward County court records.
Furcal, 47, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and throwing a “missile” into a public or private dwelling, according to Broward County court records. It’s not clear what type of item the “missile” was that Furcal is charged with throwing.

Furcal turned himself in to Broward County jail in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Wednesday and was released on bond, the Associated Press reported.
The Athletic has reached out to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office for comment.
Furcal was a three-time All-Star shortstop who played on the St. Louis Cardinals team that won the 2011 World Series. He made his MLB debut with the Atlanta Braves in 2000 and went on to earn NL Rookie of the Year honors. He played six seasons for the Braves, then five-plus seasons for the Los Angeles Dodgers before being traded to the Cardinals. His final MLB season came with the Miami Marlins in 2014 at the age of 36.
