Former UNM coach Dennis Franchione nominated for College Football Hall of Fame

Former University of New Mexico head coach Dennis Franchione is among nine coaches on the ballot for the 2026 class of the College Football Hall of Fame. Franchione coached the Lobos from 1992 to 1997 and led the team to its first bowl appearance in 36 years. Other programs he has led include Alabama, Texas State, TCU, and Texas A&M. In all, 179 players and 44 coaches from all levels are on the ballot. The Hall of Fame class will be announced next January.
