Four-star quarterback recruit visits Georgia football

The Georgia Bulldogs are looking to bolster their 2027 class recruiting. Four-star quarterback Jameson Purcell visited Georgia as UGA’s spring practice started.

Purcell is a four-star quarterback according to Rivals.com. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound signal-caller plays high school football for Maine South High School out of Park Ridge, Illinois. He is the third-ranked player from Illinois in the 2027 class.

Georgia offered him in Dec. 14, 2024, and they were the 18th school to offer him a scholarship via the recruiting process.

Georgia is currently going through a quarterback battle, with favorite Gunner Stockton and redshirt freshman Ryan Puglisi battling for the top spot after Carson Beck transferred to Miami. The Bulldogs usually have four quarterbacks on their roster at all times, and 2025 recruits Hezekiah Millender and Ryan Montgomery (currently rehabbing a torn ACL) replace Beck and departing transfer Jaden Rashada.

The Bulldogs are also in the running for Jared Curtis, the top quarterback recruit in the class of 2026. Curtis narrowed down his list down to Georgia and the Oregon Ducks.
