Is Indiana football a one-year wonder? One of college football’s leading analysts doesn’t think so.
“I think Indiana is going to be a very good football team. Curt Cignetti and those Hoosiers are not going away, much to some people’s chagrin,” Fox’s Joel Klatt said on his podcast.
“It was a total Cinderella run (to the College Football Playoff). No one was expecting what we saw from Indiana last year,” Klatt acknowledged.
Klatt notes the return of several key contributors: Mikail Kamara (10 sacks), Aiden Fisher (118 tackles), D’Angelo Ponds (9 passes defended, 3 interceptions), Elijah Surratt (53 catches, 957 yards, 8 touchdowns) and four offensive linemen.
Fernando Mendoza, who Klatt said was the No. 4 quarterback in the transfer portal, could pick up where Kurtis Rourke left off.
“You start looking at this and you say, ‘OK, Indiana’s likely not going anywhere,'” Klatt said.
