FSU to face SEC program in latest 247Sports bowl projections

The FSU Seminoles are looking to bounce back from their brutal 2024 season and 247Sports thinks they can get it done, kind of.

Brad Crawford of 247Sports recently released his post-spring bowl predictions and has the Seminoles making the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, where they would play the Tennessee Volunteers. Becoming bowl-eligible would be a big improvement after going 2-10 in 2024 and Crawford is expecting the Seminoles to “somewhat” rebound after last year’s “faceplant.”

It would be just the third time FSU made a bowl game under head coach Mike Norvell. They made the Cheez-It Bowl in 2023 and the Orange Bowl in 2024. They are 1-1 in bowl games under him and this would be their first time playing in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, which was previously the Belk Bowl, Meineke Car Care Bowl, and Continental Tire Bowl.

The Seminoles have only played Tennessee twice and never this century. FSU beat them 10-0 in 1958 and Tennessee beat them 23-16 to win the 1998 BCS National Championship in the Fiesta Bowl.

Crawford has the following teams 11 teams from the ACC going bowling or making the College Football Playoff:

  • Duke Blue Devils (Fenway Bowl)
  • North Carolina Tar Heels (Military Bowl)
  • Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (Military Bowl)
  • NC State Wolfpack (Pinstripe Bowl)
  • Syracuse Orange (Sun Bowl)
  • Virginia Tech Hokies (First Responder Bowl)
  • SMU Mustangs (Pop Tarts Bowl)
  • Pitt panthers (Holliday Bowl)
  • Louisville Cardinal (Gator Bowl)
  • Miami Hurricanes (No. 10 seed in College Football Playoff)
  • Clemson Tigers (No. 3 seed in College Football Playoff)
