Looking for some observations from the first week of Tennessee’s spring camp?
There’s a GoVols247 Podcast for that.
GoVols247’s Ryan Callahan (from his home daycare center) and Patrick Brown (from an undisclosed location) convened via the magic of The Internets to discuss some thoughts on how Josh Heupel‘s Vols have looked to this early point in a big spring camp for development at several positions on both sides of the ball.
Tennessee got a head start on spring ball, getting some work done before this week’s Spring Break, and there have been some opportunities for Patrick and Ryan to get their first looks at the Vols since last season’s College Football Playoff loss to eventual national champion Ohio State in Columbus.
Offense and defense made clean ways to separate the first and second segments, and obviously there was discussion on junior-to-be quarterback Nico Iamaleava and how he’s looked and how he’s continued to develop as a leader — something he clearly stated was a goal of his heading into the offseason. There’s also discussion on dynamic sophomore-to-be defensive back Boo Carter getting some looks on offense.
The offensive line. Running backs. Wide receivers. Defensive line. Secondary. All of those are positions that will look different for Tennessee next season, so those obviously were things that needed to be discussed. And they were discussed.
So … as always, there was much to discuss, and much was discussed in this episode.
The next GoVols247 Podcast will be released Thursday, unless big breaking news occurs before that point.
