Marietta College head men’s basketball coach Andy Bucheit announced the hiring of Keandre Graves as the Pioneers’ top assistant coach. Graves was a member of Bucheit’s staff at Heidelberg University.
“Coach Graves has been an instrumental part of our success these past two seasons at Heidelberg,” Bucheit said. “Coach has been involved in every facet of our program and will do the same here at Marietta College. I am thrilled Coach Graves wants to be a part of a special community here at Marietta College as we look to bring Championship Standards back to this campus and the community.”
Graves comes to Marietta after two seasons at Heidelberg. A graduate assistant for the 2023-24 season, the Student Princes went 16-11 overall and earned the No. 3 seed in the OAC Tournament with an 11-7 conference record. Heidelberg won its quarterfinal round game in the OAC Tournament before falling to Mount Union in the semifinals.
Promoted to assistant coach in 2024-25, Graves helped lead the Student Princes to another No. 3 seed in the league tournament finishing with a 17-10 overall mark and a 12-6 record in the OAC. Once again, Heidelberg won its quarterfinal game before losing to Mount Union in the semifinals.
“Keandre has the innate ability to relate with everyone, he is a genuine person who builds deep relationships. Coach Graves will be an outstanding recruiter and mentor for the young men in our program,” Bucheit added. “Coach has a sharp basketball mind and will be heavily involved in the X’s and O’s, game planning, and scouting as we plan to implement our basketball system here.”
Graves helped Heidelberg develop a pair of All-Region players, while five Student Princes earned All-OAC honors, including the Defensive Player of the Year in 2023-24.
Prior to Heidelberg, Graves began his coaching career as a student assistant coach at Capital University. He played collegiately at Central State University for two years before transferring to Capital for his final two seasons.
Graves graduated from Capital in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in Intervention Specialist Education.
Graves was a three-time All-State honoree at Garfield Heights High School. He led Garfield to the Division IV State Championship his senior season.
