Here is Alabama football’s full injury list as spring practice begins

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer opened his first press conference of spring practices on Monday by providing the media with an updated injury list — and it’s a long one.

DeBoer read off 11 names of players, including five that started multiple games, that will either be out or limited during the Crimson Tide’s 15 scheduled practices this month.

“All of those injuries are from last season still and expected,” DeBoer said. “Nothing new there from our standpoint.”

The full list is below:

Out For Spring:

  • Alex Asparuhov, kicker/punter
  • David Bird, long-snapper
  • Bubba Hampton, receiver
  • Fatutoa Henry, defensive line
  • Domani Jackson, defensive back
  • Deontae Lawson, linebacker
  • Danny Lewis Jr., tight end
  • Keon Sabb, defensive back

Jackson, who started all 13 games last season at cornerback, was seen with his right arm in a sling in a video posted Monday morning by Yea Alabama, the athletic department’s NIL collective.

In addition to Jackson, Lawson and Sabb were both starters last season, at linebacker and safety, respectively. Asparuhov was a member of Alabama’s 2025 signing class while Bird was a transfer portal addition from California.

Henry was a junior-college addition from Cerritos C.C. in California. Lewis is a fourth-year tight end who briefly entered the portal this offseason only to stay in Tuscaloosa. Hampton was a 2024 signee who recorded one catch for six yards in 2024.

Limited For Spring:

  • Justin Jefferson, linebacker
  • Kadyn Proctor, offensive line
  • James Smith, defensive line

Proctor started 11 games at left tackle last season. He also missed last spring after transferring to Iowa, but returned to Alabama following spring practices. DeBoer said others will get reps at tackle this spring, including Olaus Alinen and even true freshman Michael Carroll, among others.

Jefferson was the third inside linebacker for Alabama last year, behind Lawson and Jihaad Campbell. He still played in 12 games with three starts and recorded 60 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks.

Smith was part of the defensive line rotation but is expected to vie for a starting role this fall. He recorded 20 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and 11 pressures in 2024.

“There’s a lot of guys on the list are returners or upperclassmen,” DeBoer said, “so there’s a chance to build some depth with our guys and get some younger guys a lot of reps.”
