High School Safety Draws 30 College Football Offers After Flexing One From Bill Belichick & Coach Prime

What if Bill Belichick’s calculated chess move meets Prime Time’s flash and dazzle? Well, with Belichick as UNC’s new HC and Sanders staying with Colorado, it’s clear these NFL masterminds are bringing their strategic A-game to college football. And guess what? Their paths are about to cross—at least on the recruiting trail. They’ve both set their sights on a scorching hot prospect: a two-sport star at Bishop Gorman who’s killing it on both the gridiron and the basketball court. This kid’s got offers pouring in—we’re talking over two dozen! Forget Netflix and chill; this is flex and chill for this in-demand athlete.

Well, it’s Jett Washington who’s not your average high school athlete. With impressive bloodlines as the nephew of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, all eyes are on him. Not to mention, he helped lead the Gaels to a state basketball championship. Jett is exactly the kind of talent Belichick needs in his rooster and even he seems quite excited over his offer as he hits IG, saying, “Blessed to receive an offer from North Carolina!!🙏🏾”

This guy is a straight-up beast. At 6’5″ and 200 pounds, he’s built like a tank and can play anywhere on defense. Safety, linebacker, edge rusher—you name it. He proved it as a sophomore, racking up 37 tackles and snagging two interceptions as a safety. He’s a physical player who loves to mix it up.

This makes him a perfect eye candy for Deion Sanders‘ Buffs and even he seems grateful for it—“Blessed to receive an offer from The University of Colorado!!🦬🦬” However, what sets him apart is his ability to adapt and excel in different roles, which has coaches eagerly anticipating his future. And transitioning to receiver, he runs routes with the finesse and skill of a seasoned player, effortlessly snatching the pigskin out of the air.

Moreover, his exceptional game awareness complements his catching ability, allowing him to position himself effectively and maximize every play. With his impressive physique and football intelligence, it comes as no surprise that schools are lining up to recruit him.

He has also won the MaxPreps Nevada High School Football Player of the Year award in 2024 and earned a spot on the MaxPreps Junior First-Team All-American roster. Not too shabby for someone still deciding on which position to focus on. But for now, he is the center of attention in the recruitment battle among top programs.

Now, with 30 programs in the mix, Jett Washington’s recruitment is gaining momentum, with some major programs already topping his list. During a recent visit, Washington met with Coach Dan Lanning, Tosh Lupoi, and Chris Hampton, discussing how he fits into Oregon’s future plans: “Me and my family had a great talk with Coach Lanning, Tosh (Lupoi), and (Chris) Hampton on how they see me and what their program is about. I am extremely interested in them, and they are in my top five for sure… What I like about Oregon is what they are building.” Plus, he might also visit them soon.

Similarly, Michigan is making a strong push for Jett Washington’s commitment. Coach Sherrone Moore visited the four-star safety, and we all know when Moore enters the recruiting game, he is not the one who plays on the back foot. Bama is also in the mix as Kalen DeBoer isn’t leaving a single stone unturned after that major playoff snub. Plus, let’s not forget this guy made two unofficial visits to Cal and Columbus. Looks like Coach Sanders and Belichick are going to face a tough recruiting battle.

Texas has also thrown its hat in the ring, offering Jett Washington. Their safeties coach Blake Gideon is leading the charge. Gideon traveled to Las Vegas to meet the talented recruit to further solidify Texas’s spot in Washington’s recruitment. Even Jett looked quite impressed with the program, as he said, “Really right now just kind of the direction they’re heading in, how they’ve been good the past couple of years, and how they’re producing good DBs right now.”
