Florida (29-15) took the opener of its Southeastern Conference series against No. 5 Arkansas (36-8) on Friday night. On Saturday, the Gators look to secure a third straight SEC series victory when they take on the Razorbacks in the second game of the three-game set at Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville, Florida. Arkansas has lost its last two SEC series and at 13-6 is four games back of first-place Texas in the conference standings. Florida improved to 7-12 with the win but is still mired in 13th place in the league.

The Gators broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fifth when Brendan Lawson singled home a run and Luke Heyman followed with a three-run blast to left field to carry them to a 6-4 victory on Friday night. Liam Peterson struck out 13 in six innings to improve to 7-2. Colby Shelton was 1-for-2 and is slashing .378/.460/.610 with seven homers and 35 RBI while Bobby Boser has a team-high 14 home runs. Lawson tops the squad with 47 RBI.
The Razorbacks got solo homers from Wehiwa Aloy and Cam Kozeal in the first two innings and a two-run shot by Justin Thomas Jr. in the seventh. Wehiwa Aloy slashes .376/.455/.742 and leads the team with 17 home runs. Kuhio Aloy is the team’s RBI leader with 57.
Right-hander Aidan King (4-1) takes the ball for Florida on Saturday, entering with a 3.63 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 44.2 innings while striking out 50. Gage Wood (0-0) is set to make his fourth start for Arkansas and comes in with a 6.14 ERA and 1.23 WHIP, striking out 14 in 7.1 innings this season.
