The Cavs’ first loss of the 2024-’25 NBA season was also their first loss in the NBA Cup, which came on the road to the Boston Celtics (120-117) on Nov. 19. Their second setback of the season came just over a week later to these same Hawks (135-124) on Wednesday night. The matchup plays out for a second time in three nights, this time in Atlanta with the Hawks listed as 7.5-point underdogs.
In the previous head-to-head battle, Trae Young made the Hawks offense go with 20 points and 22 assists to more than offset his cold night shooting with 6-of-18 field goals and 3-of-13 from long range.
