The Devils fell in the first leg of their back-to-back to drop to 38-29-7. New Jersey is still holding the No. 3 seed in the Metropolitan with 83 points. Minnesota, on the other hand, got back in the win column with a victory over Washington to improve to 41-27-5 on the season. The Wild are currently clinging to the top Wild Card spot in the Western Conference playoffs with 87 points. The Devils and Wild will play both of their season’s matchups in a home-and-home series over the next three days.

As for Minnesota, the Wild snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Capitals in Saint Paul on Thursday night. Matt Boldy scored the go-ahead goal and assisted on another goal in the second period to lead the way for Minnesota. Frederick Gaudreau scored twice in the win for the Wild.
