Mississippi State goes for its fourth win in a row and the series sweep against Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. These two played a double header on Saturday with MSU taking both games. The Bulldogs dominated in the opener winning 14-4 to 10-run rule the Wildcats ending the game in seven innings. The second game of this series couldn’t have been much different with Mississippi State winning and walking-off the game in 11 innings by a 6-5 final. The Bulldogs have struggled in SEC play this season with a 9-16 record but that hasn’t stopped them from performing well at home with a 19-7 record and a 28-19 record overall. Kentucky is 25-18 overall and has a good 10-8 record away from home. Before this series, the Wildcats had won five of their last six games.

Joe Powell hit the walk-off RBI single in the 11th inning of Game 2 of the double header. Powell had a phenomenal day as he was a huge reason the Bulldogs got the 10-run victory. He went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and drove in three runs. Pico Kohn got the victory in the opener of the double header going 5.2 innings to improve to 5-2 on the season.
The Bulldogs were still proficient on the mound in Game 2 with all MSU pitchers combining for 15 strikeouts. There were three Bulldogs that hit homers in the contest as well. Can the Wildcats turn their performance on the mound around in the finale to get back to their winning ways?
