These two better get familiar with one another quick though as they play again in just five days in Tampa Bay for the season-series finale. The Lightning are rolling lately looking for their fourth win in a row. Tampa Bay is just two points behind Florida and Toronto who lead the Atlantic division standings. Tampa Bay should have the slight advantage even playing on the road tonight. Utah hasn’t been a runaway success it’s first year in Salt Lake City but the club has improved immensely after its move from Arizona. They’ll have a great opportunity to prove themselves against an experience team at home today.

Tampa Bay is coming off an impressive 3-2 win in a shootout against the playoff bound Dallas Stars on Thursday. Gage Goncalves scored the game-winner in the shootout round. It was Tampa’s third goal in the fourth round of the shootout. The Lightning got up 2-0 early in the second period but Dallas turned on the jets and tied the game by the end of the period. It was a close game despite Tampa Bay outshooting Dallas 38-24 in the game with Dallas goalie Casey DeSmith getting the second star with 36 saves. Brandon Hagel of the Lightning was the first star with the first goal of the game and he added an assist.

Utah is coming off a 5-2 win at home on Thursday beating the Buffalo Sabres to sweep the season series 2-0. Utah won by the same score in both games. Things were very tight all game until late in the third period. Utah and Buffalo traded goals and it was 2-2 with about 15 minutes gone by in the third until Dylan Guenther’s go-ahead goal broke open the floodgates. The Utah Hockey Club still has a shot at making the playoff as they sit in 11th place in the Western Conference with 73 points. They are just four points back from St. Louis who holds the eighth spot. Utah must keep the energy high and this game tonight will be a huge proving ground.
