The Spartans sit second in the conference standings, tied with in-state rival Michigan, while the Ducks are down in a four-way tie for 10th with Nebraska, Indiana, and Rutgers. Michigan State looks to pull out of a tailspin as the team has lost two consecutive games, falling to USC 70-64 and then to UCLA 63-61. In the loss to UCLA, the Spartans shot just 37.7% from the floor.
Jaden Akins was the only Michigan State player to score in double figures, putting up 15 points on 6-for-14 shooting and going 3-for-7 from deep. He was the only Michigan State player to hit multiple threes.
As for Oregon, the Ducks are in an even bigger rut, dropping four consecutive games including a loss to Michigan on Wednesday. In the 80-76 loss to the Wolverines, four Ducks players scored in double figures, led by Jackson Shelstad’s 18 points on 7-for-17 shooting.
TJ Bamba had a double-double, scoring 13 points on 4-for-12 shooting while pulling down 10 rebounds. He had two steals as well.
