The Utah Hockey Club welcome the Sabres to town on Thursday night as it tries to avoid a second straight loss.
The Utah Hockey Club begin a three-game home stand on Thursday night when it hosts the Buffalo Sabres. Utah comes back home after playing its last three games on the road. It won the middle game against the Vancouver Canucks, but lost the first one to the Seattle Kraken and then were whipped by the Edmonton Oilers 7-1 on Tuesday night. The loss to the Oilers dropped Utah to 30-27-11 on the season. Utah now has 71 points, which has it four back of the St. Louis Blue and Canucks for the last wild card spot in the Western Conference. It also trails the Calgary Flames by two points and will need to jump them also to get into the playoffs. Utah will also play the Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings on their home stand befor ehtye hit the road for three straight.

The Sabres come into Thursday on a two-game winning streak that has included a shootout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights and an overtime win over the Boston Bruins. Despite the back-to-back wins they still sit in last place in the Atlantic Division, nine points back of the Bruins.
Thursday’s game is the second of a four-game road trip for the Sabres that will also see them play the Minnesota Wild and Winnipeg Jets.
The Sabres have been playing better as they have won three of their last four after dropping six straight games.
