There are just three games left in the season before the NCAA men’s basketball tournament begins and the St. John’s University Red Storm continues to inch closer to the Big East division title.
Following an 82-53 win over DePaul University and an 89-75 win over UConn (leading to the Johnnies’ first-ever season sweep of the Huskies!), the Red Storm reached their highest ranking on the AP Top 25 poll in 33 years. They jumped from No. 10 in the last released poll to No. 7.
There’s a chance that the Red Storm can outright clinch the Big East title tonight against Butler, but it wouldn’t be dependent on a win alone.
The magic number is two; a win tonight would get them closer, but a win paired with a Creighton loss would do it. Creighton plays DePaul University tonight, and a DePaul win would be a massive upset.
