
Stanford and Clemson will meet for the first time since the Cardinal joined the ACC as the teams begin a series on Friday night.
The No. 4 Clemson Tigers will welcome the Stanford Cardinal to Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday to kick off the teams’ first ACC series since Stanford joined the conference. The Cardinal is currently 18-12 overall this season and 5-10 in conference play for a spot in 12th place in the ACC standings. The team’s most recent game took place on Monday at home against UC Davis and resulted in a 4-0 shutout. Luke Lavin was responsible for two of the team’s runs as he smashed a two-run homer to left field in the second. Jimmy Nati also hit a homer in the first to make it a 2-0 game after Trevor Haskins came home on a wild pitch. Nick Dugan earned the win on the mound to improve to 3-0 after throwing for five innings and striking out four batters.

The Tigers are leading the ACC standings with a conference record of 9-3 and an overall record of 31-5. The team is currently on a six-game win streak with the most recent being a 4-2 win over Gardner-Webb on Wednesday. Jacob Jarrell propelled the Clemson offense to a win after going 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI while Cam Cannarella and Collin Priest each brought one run home, as well. Drew Titsworth took the win on the mound, throwing seven strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.
Clemson and Stanford have only met twice in their history and both meetings took place at the College World Series. The Cardinal eliminated Clemson from the 1995 World Series and defeated the Tigers again in 2000 on the way to a runner-up finish.
