Missouri will look to climb out of last place in the SEC standings with an upset over Texas in college baseball action.
The Missouri Tigers will close out an SEC series with the No. 7 Texas Longhorns on Sunday at Taylor Stadium. The Longhorns currently lead the series 2-0 after beating the Tigers 15-4 on Friday and 7-4 on Saturday. The Tigers are now 9-16 overall on the season and are still winless in SEC play at 0-8. In Saturday’s loss, Chris Patterson hit a three-run homer to center field to account for the team’s three earned runs while the other run came across home when Pierre Seals reached on an error to score Keegan Knutson. Kaden Jacobi dropped to 2-3 on the season after getting the start on the mound and giving up six earned runs in 4.1 innings of work. He struck out four batters.

With Saturday’s win, the Longhorns improved to 22-3 overall and 7-1 in conference play which has the team in fourth place in a very competitive Southeastern Conference. Texas has now won give games in a row and will look to improve upon that by completing the sweep on Sunday. Will Gasparino and Ethan Mendoza each finished the game with two hits and brought in a combined five runs while Jaquae Stewart and Tommy Farmer IV each had one RBI. Max Grubbs remains undefeated on the season at 3-0 after taking the win on the mound with five strikeouts in three innings.
Texas and Missouri have now met a total of 66 times in their history and the Longhorns hold a slight 36-30 lead in the all-time series. Tune in Sunday to watch the final game of the series as Texas looks to earn their sixth straight win.
