UConn faces South Carolina on Sunday in women’s college basketball action as both teams take a break from their conference schedules to play each other in one of the biggest matchups of the regular season.

South Carolina looks well on its way to another SEC crown while UConn has been dominating the Big East thanks to the play of star guard Paige Bueckers and freshman forward Sarah Strong. Which team will come out on top on Sunday?

UConn defeated St. John’s 78-40 on Wednesday. Azzi Fudd came up big for the Huskies, scoring 34 points to lead the team. Paige Bueckers added 16 points, six rebounds, and four assists in the victory.
South Carolina is coming off a 101-63 win over Florida. Last Sunday, the team faced Texas in a huge battle with SEC rivals, with the Longhorns handing the Gamecocks their first conference loss since 2022 with a 66-62 victory. Only one South Carolina player, MiLaysia Fulwiley, scored in double figures in the defeat.
These two teams met in Columbia last February, with the Gamecocks winning 84-65. South Carolina has won the last four meetings, with UConn last winning in overtime in February 2021. It’s a big change in this battle, as UConn won the first eight times the teams played.
