No. 23 Vanderbilt (23-8) has already locked up a Southeastern Conference series victory this weekend and goes for the sweep on Sunday when it takes on Florida (20-13) at Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville, Florida. The Commodores are over the .500 mark in SEC play with Saturday’s win, improving to 6-5, while the Gators are now 1-10 in conference action. Vanderbilt has played in 18 straight NCAA tournaments, winning national championships in 2014 and 2019 during that span. Florida’s string of 16 straight NCAA tourney bids could be in jeopardy after the Gators played in the last two College World Series and won a national title in 2017.

Colin Barczi’s solo home run in the top of the ninth broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Commodores to a 3-2 victory on Saturday. Vandy had taken a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth before Florida scratched back to tie the game in the seventh. Jonathan Vastine had a solo shot in the third inning and Cody Bowker struck out seven in 4.2 innings but didn’t figure in the decision.
Justin Nadeau got the Gators on the board with an RBI single in the fifth and Luke Heyman tied the game with a run-scoring knock in the seventh. Luke McNeillie pitched three hitless innings of relief in the loss. Florida outhit Vanderbilt 9-5 but left 11 on base, including leaving them loaded in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Neither team announced a starting pitcher for Sunday. Brodie Johnston came into the series leading the Commodores with six home runs and shared the team lead with 26 RBI, but is 0-for-9 in the series. Brody Donay is slashing .337/.463/.704 with nine home runs while Bobby Boser has 10 homers and a team-high 35 RBI for the Gators.
