Virginia will host in-state foe VCU on Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup in college baseball action.
The VCU Rams will travel to Davenport Field at Disharoon Park on Tuesday to play the Virginia Cavaliers in a mid-week matchup as the season begins to wind down. The Rams come into Tuesday’s game with an overall record of 14-29 and a conference record of 7-14 which has them sitting in 10th place in the Atlantic 10 standings. Over the weekend, VCU hosted Fordham and earned the series win after playing to an 8-5 victory in the first game of the series and a 9-0 shutout in the rubber match. Jacob Lee powered the offense after hitting a three-run homer to open the scoring in the third and following with an RBI single in the sixth. Elijah Coston threw for 2.2 innings to earn the win on the mound while Zachary Peters picked up his fourth save of the season with three innings, striking out two along the way.

The Cavaliers are currently in ninth place in the ACC standings with a conference record of 11-10 and an overall record of 24-16. The team had a strong showing over the weekend, beating No. 24 Georgia Tech in the first two games of their series before dropping the finale in a 10-inning 7-6 defeat. Center fielder Aidan Teel led the offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBI while Eric Becker added two runs to the scoreboard on his only hit of the game. Evan Blanco was credited with the loss on the mound after blowing the save by giving up three earned runs in 2.2 innings. He dropped to 2-4 on the season with the loss.
VCU and Virginia have met a total of 26 times in their history and the Cavaliers hold a 20-6 lead in the all-time series. Virginia has won the last six meetings with the most recent being a 13-0 run-rule win earlier this season.
