Husker 2025 defensive portal additions ideally fit right

Ceyair Wright has walked in those cleats.

He was the newcomer from the portal last year. Only difference is his arrival was in the summer not January like those new Huskers currently in the business.

The fact he locked down a starting job after four games, and just a couple months on campus, speaks to doing it the right way. It also makes him a pretty good source to ask about how these newcomers in 2025 are phasing in.

“I think that the staff does a great job of bringing players in that fit well into the team. I think that players like Dasan and Marques jumped in and it was like they were already here,” he said of Huskers like Dasan McCullough and Marques Watson-Trent. “I think that they were very open about asking questions and learning the defense. I think the fact that we all spend time with each other off the field allows us to get closer with each other so we can build that on-field chemistry.”

Husker defensive coordinator John Butler had an encouraging word about the defensive portal additions slipped into his Tuesday talk to the media too.
