Indiana’s Assembly Hall Ranked As Top Arena Atmospheres in College Basketball

According to the X account College Basketball Content, Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall is one of the top ten Arena Atmospheres in college basketball in their new top 25 rankings.

The Indiana Hoosiers (Assembly Hall) came in at No. 7 behind, No. 6 Michigan State (Breslin Center), No.5 Iowa State (Hilton Coliseum), No. 4 Purdue (Mackey Arena), No. 3 Gonzaga (McCarthy Athletic Center), No. 2 Duke (Cameron Indoor) and No. 1 topping the list was Kansas’ (Allen Fieldhouse).

Assembly Hall has been the home to Indiana University basketball since 1971 and has hosted more than 12 million fans. Most of its 17,222 seats are on either side of the court, creating one of the greatest home-court advantages in college basketball.

The opening of the venue coincided with the debut of head coach Bobby Knight, who would lead the Hoosiers to three NCAA championships (1976, 1981, and 1987) during his 29-year seasons in Bloomington, perhaps forever linking the two iconic institutions.
