Heisman winners Mark Ingram of Alabama, Cam Newton of Auburn and Robert Griffin III of Baylor as well as a host of Heisman runners-up, finalists, and top 10 vote-getters were named on Monday (June 2) to the National Football Foundation’s (NFF) 2026 Ballot under consideration for induction into the NFF College Football Hall of Fame.
The list features 79 players and nine coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision, including four Heisman runners-up in Penn State’s Ki-Jana Carter (1994), Iowa’s Brad Banks (2002), Oklahoma’s Josh Heupel (2000) and Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o (2012).
Carter, Banks, Huepel and Te’o are among 15 Heisman finalists on the ballot this year, including the three aforementioned winners. The other finalists include Colorado’s Eric Bieniemy (third in 1990), Georgia’s Garrison Hearst (third in 1992), Washington State’s Ryan Leaf (third in 1997), Miami’s Ken Dorsey (third in 2001), Northern Illinois’s Jordan Lynch (third in 2013), Boise State’s Kellen Moore (fourth in 2010), Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh (fourth in 2009) and Pittsburg’s Craig Heyward (fifth in 1987).
Other top-10 Heisman finishers on the ballot include Indiana’s Vaughn Dunbar (sixth in 1991), Virginia’s Herman Moore (sixth in 1990), Indiana’s Antwaan Randle El (sixth in 2001), Wyoming’s Marcus Harris (ninth in 1996) and Oregon’s Kenjon Barner (ninth in 2012).

There are 68 Heisman winners already represented in the College Football Hall of Fame. The two most recent inductees into the Hall of Fame were Florida’s Tim Tebow and USC’s Reggie Bush, both part of the 2023 class. Other recent inductees include Colorado’s Rashaan Salaam (2022), USC’s Carson Palmer (2021), Nebraska’s Eric Crouch (2020), Michigan’s Charles Woodson (2018) and Palmer’s USC teammate Matt Leinart (2017).
The announcement of the 2026 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class will be made in early 2026, with specific details to be announced in the future. The 2026 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class will be officially inducted during the 68th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 8, 2026.
