Ever since coming to Eugene, Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning has been among the best in the nation when it comes to landing elite talent out of the transfer portal. From Bo Nix and Bucky Irving to Tez Johnson and Jordan Burch, the Ducks show year after year why they are one of the top transfer destinations in all of college football.
This past offseason, they may have landed one of the most impactful transfers yet in left tackle Isaiah World. Coming from the Nevada Wolfpack, World stands at 6-foot-8, 310 pounds, and was rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 overall player in the portal this year, behind UCLA QB Nico Iamaleava Jr.
World isn’t only projected to come in and be an instant starter for the Ducks, replacing first-round pick Josh Conerly Jr., but he is also expected to follow in Conerly’s footsteps and become a first-round draft pick himself a year from now. This is why ESPN recently named him among the most intriguing transfers to pay attention to in 2025, dubbed a ” must-watch” going into the new season.
“The Ducks landed lots of proven players via the portal, including running back Makhi Hughes (Tulane) and safety Dillon Thieneman (Purdue), but World is the one who has pro scouts buzzing. The 6-foot-8 left tackle was a three-year starter at Nevada and should be an excellent replacement for first-round pick Josh Conerly Jr.”
World isn’t the only offensive lineman that Oregon got out of the portal this year. Former USC left guard Emmanuel Pregnon transferred to Oregon, as well as Texas State OT Alex Harkey, both of whom are expected to join World in the starting lineup.
