NC State has signed 4-star Ven-Allen Lubin, a transfer from the ‘University That Shall Not Be Named.’ Despite his previous transgression, he has three seasons of P4 experience (2 ACC, 1 SEC), he is an outstanding addition to the Wolfpack’s 2025 front court.
The trademark of this first Will Wade team is FLEXIBILITY, and you will hear that repeated dozens of times over the coming months. Adding Lubin gives the option for a very experienced lineup, four seniors and a junior, our top 5 transfers, all coming from 2025 NCAA tournament teams:
- Tre Holloman: Senior (247 ranked #110) – played 106 games (Michigan St)
- Alyn Breed: Senior (#216) – played 90 games (McNeese St)
- Terrance Arceneaux: Junior (#134) – played 85 games (Houston)
- Darrion Williams: Senior (#6) – played 100 games (Texas Tech)
- Ven-Allen Lubin: Senior (#144) – played 91 games (misc.)
Coach Wade continues to do what was thought to be inconceivable:
- Signed to coach basketball at NC State and immediately promised relevance, a top third finish in the ACC, and an NCAA appearance. In season one!!
- Signed a 5-star high school recruit while not yet being able to recruit off campus
- Signed a 5-star transfer right out of the Kansas Jayhawk’s talons
- Signed an excellent player from Chapel Hill (FYI: it’s a small town outside of Raleigh)
Stats:
- Ht / Wt: 6’8” / 230 lbs
- Position: Forward / Center
- Eligibility: 1 season
- PPG / RPG / APG: 8.7 / 5.5 / 0.3
- Shooting: 68.4% / 0% (0-3) / 71.1%
’24-’25 Season Highs: Scored 10+ 16 times including a season high 20 against Duke, had 5+ rebounds 22 times including a career high of 13 against Wake and three games with 9, had 2+ blocked shots 8 times including 3 games blocking a season high of 3.
Background:
Lubin was a 4-star (247 ranked #109) player out of Orlando, signed by Notre Dame. He started 7 of the 28 games he played. Averaged 6.2 points and 4.4 rebounds.
Coach Stackhouse lured him to Vanderbilt for his sophomore season. Started all 26 games in which he played (missed the first four games and six overall due to injury). He averaged 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds. He scored his career high 25 twice and had 5 double-doubles. He shot 33.3% (13-39) from 3PT. He had his best game of the season in a win against Florida, with a career high 25 points and 11 rebounds. For the season he led Vandy in field goal %, offensive rebounds, and blocked shots.
That’s when everything went wrong (I blame former UNC player Stackhouse), he transferred to Chapel Hill. He started 20 of 37 games last season. He finished the season strong, scoring 10+ in his last 11 games, with double doubles in four of their last seven games, including having 20 / 10 against Duke (BTW, the NCAA’s tallest team) in the ACCT semi-finals.
On3 has him ranked 45th in the transfer portal and the 8th ranked small forward.
Welcome to the Pack!
