Jackson Central Merry had not one but two of their student athletes
signed their national letter of intent earlier today.
Girls basketball player Nyjha Webster signed on to
play for UT Martin and boys basketball player Brennan
Ballard also known as Bj signed on to play for Bryan college. Ms Webster
has shot 83 percent from the free throw line, 48 percent shooting,
three time all district team, three time district all tournament team,
three time region all tournament team, three time hub city classic all tournament
team, team captain for 3 years and scored fifthteen hundred points in her
career with a 3.7 GPA. While Mr Ballard won 3 time district team, all tournament
team, leading scorer for two years, cougars award recipient, jmcss male basketball
player of the year, over fourteen hundred points scored in his career and led
the cougars to a state tournament appearance. We caught up with both
after their signings and they talked about why they chose their new homes.
Ballard- Well they were my first like ever team that came up to me they saw me at a AAU tournament and the coach got me out of our huddle the one i had the huddle with my team
and he told me about their program he told me that he’s going contact me throughout
the rest of my senior year. I’m looking forward to you know having a different environment
around me and being able to see what i can do there by myself.
