Luka Doncic’s sudden transfer from the Dallas Mavericks to the LA Lakers sent shockwaves around the NBA world. The intensity of the trade could be gauged from the fact that almost three weeks have passed since the development took place, yet it remains the biggest burning topic in the NBA. During the period the reactions to the unexpected trade have been continuous and now former NBA star Jalen Rose has contributed to the inundation.

Jalen Rose’s Bunt Take on Luka Doncic Trade Controversy
According to the former player-turned-analyst, the way Luka Doncic was marketed ahead of and following the trade by the Mavericks was uncalled for. According to Rose, the Mavs were just not willing to offer the Slovenian the extension which was due and would have earned him a whopping sum, hence decided to get rid of him and triggered the trade. While offering his thoughts on the trade ahead of the All-Star weekend, Rose went on to say that if the Mavericks do not have the wherewithal to pay their star man, then they should just sell the franchise.
“Normally, when you’re about to get traded, there comes out negative things about your character publicly… I don’t like that it happened with Luka before he got traded and after he’s traded. Is he in the greatest shape? No. Does he have some off-court things that he probably needs to improve as a 25-year-old? Absolutely. And I love Anthony Davis. But he was the second-best player on a championship team,” Rose said.
“When Luka wins the championship, by the way, he just led them to the Finals last year and has been All-NBA [First Team] five times, he’s going to be the best player on a championship team. So, to me, it seems like they didn’t want to pay Luka. If you don’t wanna pay Luka, just sell the team. That’s how I feel about it, because if you ain’t gonna pay somebody that accomplished what he accomplished already, I don’t know…”
The former NBA star continued, “It seems like [the Mavs] didn’t wanna pay Luka, so for me if you don’t wanna pay Luka, then just sell the team. That’s how I feel about it.”
