Kelly Stafford is not a fan of the waiting game.
In the March 6 episode of The Morning After podcast, the NFL wife reflected on the challenges she faced amid her husband Matthew Stafford‘s uncertain future as a quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams.
Prior to the athlete’s decision to stay with his longtime team, Kelly, 35, recalled the three weeks that “seemed like three months” while Matthew, 37, was looking at other contracts.
The mom of four praised her husband’s ability to maintain his composure while considering the big decision his future was dependent upon, in addition to his family’s potential relocation from their home should he not re-sign with the Rams.

Kelly herself, however, admitted she went “f—— mad” during that brief — yet stressful — span of time.
“He’s [Stafford] very good at compartmentalizing everything. Me on the other hand, when he says you think about the uncertainty all the time you go crazy, I went f—— mad, I went so crazy,” she said on the podcast.
The NFL mom praised Rams coach Sean McVay for being “such a good communicator” and gave him “so much credit” for that ability. “I just felt like he wanted to make sure that everything was good for everybody and I was grateful for that.”

While Kelly said that the “uncertainty” of her husband’s future “killed” her “in a lot of ways,” there was one intent in mind that kept her focused amid the “eye-opening process.”
Of her husband, she said, “At the end of the day, what I want is what’s best for you… this is his legacy.”
After committing to the Rams, Kelly rest assures it’s where they’re meant to be. “This is where we both wanted to be, and I’m just glad he gets to play for the team and the coach that he wants to end his career with.”

The spotlight has been on Matthew during the NFL offseason with the Rams allowing the quarterback permission to speak with other teams in February.
The New York Giants, for one, pursued Matthew and discussed a contract worth $90 million to $100 million. He had reportedly been seeking a new deal of around $50 million per season.
Matthew has been with the Rams since he was traded from the Detroit Lions in 2021. He led the Los Angeles team to victory in the Super Bowl over the Cincinnati Bengals that year.
