My analysis
It’s crazy what a motivated Jimmy Butler can do. Because the Golden State Warriors look like a different team these days.

The Warriors enter tonight’s matchup with the Sacramento Kings as one of the hottest teams in the NBA, going 12-2 straight up, which includes wins in the last five games in a row. They are also 9-4-1 against the spread during that period.

Yes, Steph Curry going nuclear can have a big impact on games as well, but this team looks much more balanced heading into the final stretch of the season.

Not only do the Dubs rank fifth in offensive rating over this 14-game span, they rank fourth in defensive rating as well.

That balance also comes in the form of getting scoring from not all of the obvious places. In this case, I am talking about Moses Moody.

It’s hard to believe the 22-year-old is already in his fourth NBA season, but it feels like Moody is having his breakout moment right now. Moody is averaging 9.8 points per game and shooting 38.3% from 3-point range this season but he’s taken his game to the next level.

Moody has upped his points to 12.4 over his last 12 games, which includes 13 starts, and is coming off a game against the Portland Trail Blazers where he put up 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc.

But sportsbooks have been slow to pick up on his improved production, setting his point total at 11.5 in a good matchup against the Kings.

Sacramento had been playing well out of the break, but is now 1-3 in its last four games and is coming off a 133-104 loss to the New York Knicks. That regression, particularly on defense was bound to happen eventually when you consider the lineups they have trotted out.

Opposing guards have also been a problem for the Kings all season. They rank 24th in points per game and 21st in opponent field goal percentage to opposing guards this season. 

In light of that, give me the Over 11.5 points for Moody tonight. A number he has eclipsed in the last two games and in 14 of his last 24 overall.

The Kings rank 24th in 3-point attempts allowed to opposing guards while ranking dead last in 3-point shooting percentage allowing them to hit 38% of their shots from beyond the arc.

And finally, let’s round this same-game parlay out with the Kings to go Under their team total of 113.5. Sacramento’s run of good play has come to an end and you can tell they are missing Domantas Sabonis.

The Kings have played below this number in three of their last four games, and the Warriors are arguably playing the best defense they have seen during that stretch. Golden State has held opponents below this number in six of its last 10 games, which includes a Feb. 21 matchup against Sacramento which the Dubs won 132-108.

• The Warriors opened this Pacific Division matchup as 6.5-point favorites and have moved up slightly to 7 as of Thursday afternoon.
• The Warriors were 2-point road favorites when these teams met in Sacramento back on Feb. 21. A game which Golden State won 132-108. The Warriors have only lost once since then, however, the Kings have covered the spread in seven of their last eight.
• The total hasn’t seen much action as of Thursday afternoon, sitting only a half-point lower than the opening number.
• The current number is three points lower than the closing number from the Feb. 21 meeting. That game went over thanks to the offensive outburst from Golden State. It feels like something similar would need to happen for the Over to cash again.
