JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A legendary head football coach, most recently with Mississippi State, is now eligible to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
On Thursday, the National Football Foundation announced changes to the rules for being eligible, making the late, great Mike Leach qualified to be selected.
Leach, who passed away in 2022, tallied a 158-107 record in more than two decades as a college head coach, which included stops at Texas Tech and Washington State, along with State. His win-to-loss ratio is good for a 59.6% win record, meeting all requirements.
In Starkville, the beloved Leach went 19-16 overall.
