Latest ESPN NFL mock draft sends Iowa football RB Kaleb Johnson to young, talented offense

The wait is almost over the Kaleb Johnson. The Iowa Hawkeyes All-American and 2024 Big Ten Running Back of the Year is eagerly awaiting where his NFL destination will be as the clock continues to dwindle on the answer to what team will be his new home.

Viewed by many as an NFL-ready running back right away, Johnson will likely be asked to step in and contribute very early on. His style of play and size make him a prime candidate for teams in need of running back help, and that is exactly where he is being sent in a recent mock draft.

In ESPN’s latest mock draft, Johnson is being sent to the Washington Commanders in the early third round with the No. 67 pick overall.

Yates’ pick: Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa

The addition of Kaleb Johnson bolsters a Commanders’ offense that was ahead of schedule last year with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels leading them to a playoff run.

Washington needs an every-down type of running back, and Kaleb Johnson plugs that gap for them while simultaneously making their offense that much harder to defend.
