Syracuse, N.Y. — Le Moyne men’s basketball player Dwayne Koroma will play for national powerhouse UConn next season.
His transfer destination was reported first by ESPN NBA Draft analyst Jonathan Givony.
Koroma ranked second in the country in effective field goal percentage last year, a statistic that gauges how many points a player scores per shot attempt.
Koroma scored most of his points from inside the 3-point arc, where he shot 73.1 percent, 11th in the country. He also made 5 of 14 3-point tries.
Koroma was a very productive rebounders and averaged 11.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.4 steals in 28.3 minutes per game with the Dolphins, who finished 9-23.
A native of Berlin, Germany, Koroma was listed by Le Moyne at 6-foot-8 and 205 pounds.
He was just as efficient against high-level competition scoring 10 points while making all five of his shots against Syracuse. He also scored 13 points and shot 6 for 9 during Le Moyne’s game against the Huskies last year.
Koroma was measured by EvanMiya.com as Le Moyne’s most effective player last season. He finished second on the Dolphins in scoring and led the team in rebounding.
Koroma, who has one year of college eligibility remaining, began his college basketball career at Iona before landing at Salt Lake Community College. He played at Texas-Arlington before transferring to Le Moyne before last season.
Koroma displayed similar efficiency at Arlington but came into his own at Le Moyne, averaging more than 10 points for the first time at any level.
He will go from playing at Le Moyne to one of the best basketball programs in the country. UConn lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament last year but won the previous two national titles.
