The accolades continue to roll for Southern baseball’s Cardell Thibodeaux, almost a month removed from a sensational season.
The junior outfielder was named to the National College Baseball Writers Association Division I All-American Third Team, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The transfer from UL-Monroe was the only player from an HBCU to make any of the All-American teams.
Thibodeaux finished his season first in the country in slugging percentage (.847), second in batting average (.439) and second in on-base percentage (.544). He also has 73 runs scored, 71 RBIs 18 home runs, which are first, fifth and second in the SWAC, respectively.
He was also named the 2025 SWAC Player of the Year and SWAC Newcomer of the Year and All-SWAC Baseball First Team.
Southern (24-27, 15-13 SWAC) had its season come to an end when it faced No. 5-seeded Grambling. The Jaguars, who were the No. 7 seed, fell 16-2 during an elimination game on May 23 at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.
