Local Product Manny Hill Joins Cleveland State Men’s Basketball Team

Cleveland, OH-Manny Hill, a 6’0″ guard from Cleveland Heights, is the newest addition to the Cleveland State men’s basketball team. Hill is the 14th student-athlete signed by head coach Rob Summers entering his first season in charge of the program. He joins the Vikings with one year of eligibility remaining.

“We’re excited to welcome Manny Hill to the Viking family,” said Coach Summers. “Manny is a local Cleveland kid who truly understands what this city is about and the culture we’re building at Cleveland State. His toughness, work ethic, and pride in representing his hometown make him a perfect fit for our program.”

Hill has spent time at Notre Dame College, Cuyahoga Community College and most recently Heidelberg University prior to his arrival at Cleveland State. This past season at Heidelberg he played in 18 games making 17 starts and averaged 11.3 points per game. He shot 43 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range.

Prior to Heidelberg Hill spent two seasons at Cuyahoga Community College. He played in 62 total games making 57 starts. Hill averaged double figures in scoring in both seasons, averaging 13.5 points per game in 2022-23 and 12.1 points per game in 2023-24. He helped Tri-C to a combined record of 47-15 with postseason appearances in both seasons. Hill spent his first collegiate season at Notre Dame College where he appeared in three games.

Hill played his high school basketball at Cleveland Heights High School on the east side and also attended International Sports Academy for one season prior to playing college basketball. His name is a familiar one to the Cleveland State program as his older brother Yahel Hill played three seasons for the Vikings appearing in 93 total games. Hill helped Cleveland State to back-to-back Horizon League regular season championships and the 2021 Horizon League Tournament title where he was mentored by Coach Summers during his stint as an assistant coach at CSU.

Upon announcing his commitment, Hill added, “Choosing Cleveland State was a no brainer to me. Having the chance to play close to home alongside a great coaching staff and players made it an easy decision. Coach Summers is very big on culture and connection and he is someone I can see myself developing a lot under.”
