Louisville baseball to host Miami in NCAA Super Regional

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville will host their NCAA Baseball Super Regionals, thanks to a little help from the Miami Hurricanes.

The Cards punched their ticket to the next round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, but didn’t know where they were going until late Monday night. They would face the winner of Miami and Southern Miss.

Since Southern Miss is ranked higher than the Cards, had the Golden Eagles won, UofL would have had to play in Hattisburg.

But the Hurricanes took down the Golden Eagles in the regional final 5 to 4. Miami will now be taking a trip to Jim Patterson Stadium.

This will be Louisville’s seventh Super Regional they’ve hosted. But they haven’t had a Super Regional at their stadium since 2019.

It’s something Louisville players have said all season long; they wanted to bring back to the program.

“I want this place to be, hopefully if we can host something along those lines, I want this place to be rocking,” said First Baseman Tague Davis. “That would be pretty cool to play in front of a home crowd like that.”

“It would be great for our fans,” said Head Coach Dan McDonnell. “I’m an ACC fan, so I would be lying if I said I wasn’t rooting for Miami and Chris Dominguez.”

This year Louisville is 38-21, while Miami is 33-25. The Cards are 37-10 all time when they host postseason games.

The Super Regionals will take place from Friday, June 6th through Monday June 9th, in a best of three series.
