OMAHA, Neb. — LSU baseball is staring down its eighth NCAA championship.

The Tigers (52-15) placed themselves firmly in A-1 position to capture the national title after winning Game 1 of the best-of-three series against Coastal Carolina, 1-0, Saturday night at the College World Series finals at Charles Schwab Field.

Sophomore ace Kade Anderson had an historic performance, throwing a complete game shutout for LSU as he gave up just three hits and five walks on 130 pitches. It was the first time in LSU program history a pitcher threw a complete game in the CWS championship series.
