
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The LSU Tigers rallied from an early four-run deficit to defeat the Little Rock Trojans, 10-6, Monday night, June 2.
The two teams took on each other for the final game of the Baton Rouge Regional at Alex Box Stadium.
With the win, the Tigers move on to play in an NCAA Super Regional against West Virginia in a best two-of-three series, which will get underway either Friday or Saturday in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
The winner of the LSU-West Virginia series will earn a berth in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
After LSU jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first, the Trojans scored five runs in the bottom of the second for a 5-1 lead.
The Tigers cut their deficit to 5-4 in the fourth, then scored six runs across the final four innings to pull away.
LSU’s offense was powered by designated hitter Ethan Frey, who went 4 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI.
Tigers catcher Luis Hernandez homered twice and drove in three other LSU runs.
“I told the players tonight is one of the best wins of my entire career because of what they had to do to earn it,” said LSU baseball Head Coach Jay Johnson.
