Magic Johnson celebrates Dodgers’ World Series title on social media

The City of Angels is celebrating after the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series with a 7-6 victory over the New York Yankees on Wednesday. It is their second world championship in the last five seasons, but this is their first title during a full Major League Baseball season since 1988.

Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson led an ownership group that purchased the Dodgers in 2012. That group rebuilt them from a perennially disappointing franchise into one that has consistently won the National League West and has continued to add star after star over the years.

Johnson took to X (formerly Twitter) to revel in the Dodgers’ World Series victory while congratulating Freddie Freeman on winning the World Series MVP award.

Johnson also reminded everyone how big his collection of championship rings has gotten.

Johnson won five NBA championships as a Lakers player in the 1980s, five as a part-owner of the Lakers, two with the Dodgers, one as a part-owner of the Los Angeles Sparks, one as a part-owner of the Los Angeles FC of Major League Soccer and a national championship in 1979 with the Michigan State University Spartans.

Wherever he has gone, he has had the Midas touch.
