Mark Your Calendars! Wake Forest Baseball Unveils 2025 Schedule – Wake Forest University Athletics

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Entering his 16th season as the leader of Wake Forest baseball, head coach Tom Walter and the Demon Deacons have released the 2025 schedule featuring 34 chances to see the Deacs play inside David F. Couch Ballpark. 
 
The Deacs will look for their fourth-straight NCAA Regional appearance in 2025, the longest streak since making five-straight regionals from 1998-2002.

The 2025 schedule features 41 of 55 games that will be played in the state of North Carolina.
 
Wake Forest opponents combined to go 686-557-2 (55.5%) a season ago and the slate features seven postseason teams, three Regional hosts (Clemson, Florida State and North Carolina), three Super Regional squads (Clemson, Florida State and North Carolina) and two Men’s College World Series foes (Florida State and North Carolina).

2025 Schedule
The 2025 season gets underway on Friday, Feb. 14 as the Deacs take on first-time opponents LIU and Marist at The Couch for Opening Weekend before making the short trip to Greensboro for a midweek matchup with UNCG on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The second weekend of the season brings fall opponent St. John’s to Winston-Salem for a three-game set on Feb. 21-23. 
 
After a midweek against in-state foe Elon on Tuesday, Feb. 25, Wake Forest welcomes Rider and Maryland to close out early non-conference weekend action (Feb. 28-Mar. 2). 
 
Following a midweek battle at App State on Tuesday, Mar. 4, the Deacs open Atlantic Coast Conference action with a three-game set against Notre Dame (Mar. 7-Mar. 9) 
 
Taking advantage of spring break, Wake Forest will travel to Coastal Carolina to take on the Chanticleers on Tuesday, Mar. 11 before continuing ACC play at The Couch against Miami (Mar. 14-16). 
 
The Deacs hit the road for five straight, traveling to Liberty (Mar. 18), 2024 NCAA Super Regional host Clemson (Mar. 21-23) and close the road portion of March at Elon on Tuesday the 25th.
 
A third home ACC series closes the month with the Demon Deacons set to take on Virginia Tech on Mar. 28-30 at The Couch.
 
The Deacs stay on the road for the majority of April with three-of-four ACC series away from Winston-Salem against some of the top programs in collegiate baseball in Florida State (Apr. 4-6), North Carolina (Apr. 10-12) and Stanford (Apr. 25-27).

Wake Forest’s lone home conference series in the month sees Boston College come to David F. Couch Ballpark on Apr. 17-19. The Deacs play host to UNCG (Apr. 8), Coastal Carolina (Apr. 15) and Liberty (Apr. 22) in the midweek, while taking on App State in Shelby on Apr. 29 to close the month.
 
The Deacs return to the Couch for seven straight to open May, beginning with a three-game set against Gardner-Webb on May 3-4 featuring a Sunday doubleheader. Pittsburgh comes to The Couch on May 9-11 for the last home ACC series, ahead of the Demon Deacons final home game against High Point on May 13.
 
Wake Forest will close out their regular season play on the road against Louisville with a three-game ACC series starting Thursday, May 15.

Parking
New this season, parking will be split between The Couch Lot and McCreary Tower Lot. Season ticket holders with parking in The Couch Lot for the 2024 season will have the opportunity to renew their parking in the same location for the upcoming season.

Starting in the spring, traffic patterns into certain lots at baseball may be affected due to The Grounds construction that will be commencing. More communication and information will be shared closer to this date.

2025 Outlook 
On the bump, the Deacs return 195.0 innings pitched (37.2 percent), led by rising sophomores Josh Gunther, Haiden Leffew, Blake Morningstar and Cam Nelson’s 101.3 combined innings as freshmen.
 
Wake Forest added a trio of ACC transfer arms with the additions of Matt Bedford, Griffin Green and Luke Schmolke, while adding a pair of SEC hurlers in Matthew Dallas and Logan Lunceford.
 
Additionally, the Deacs added a flame-throwing righty in Nate Brittain from Campbell, who has been clocked up to 100 mph, while bringing in a pair of top 100 freshmen in Chris Levonas (No. 44) and Duncan Marsten (No. 63) according to Perfect Game.
 
At the plate, Wake Forest brings back 921 at-bats (45.1 percent), led by Marek Houston and Jack Winnay’s 243 combined ABs.
 
The Deacs also bring in 821 collegiate at-bats from a season ago in transfers Ethan Conrad (226), Jimmy Keenan (218), Kade Lewis (207) and Matt Scannell (170). 
 
Conrad joins the Deacs from Marist where he hit .335 with 45 extra-base hits as a sophomore and took home the 2024 Summer Breaker Prospect for his performance in the Cape Cod League by D1 Baseball.
 
Keenan and Lewis were both named All-Big EAST selections, while Lewis was also named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year for his standout season at Butler. Scannell joins Wake Forest after a standout career at Princeton, where he was a three-time All-Ivy League selection.
 
The 2024 Wake Forest freshman class ranks 11th overall according to Perfect Game, marking the highest-ranked first-year class in program history for the Demon Deacons.
