Arizona State Lands Top JUCO Pass Rusher Joshua Shanklin

Per his announcement on Thursday, top junior college pass rusher Joshua Shanklin is headed to Tempe to play for the Sun Devils.

After taking visits to Arizona State, Ole Miss, UCLA, West Virginia and Missouri, Shanklin believed Arizona State was the best fit.

Out of Foothill College in Los Altos, California, Shanklin is primed for a big season in the Big 12.

The 6’4″, 220‑pound edge rusher had 14.5 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles over 11 games last season.

Those are monster numbers—ones that could translate to the Power Five if he stays ready and in shape.

Arizona State Looks to Go Further in 2025

The Sun Devils still haven’t received enough respect for last year’s season.

Dillingham and Co. won 11 games one year after winning three.

After taking the Big 12 title, the Sun Devils clinched a spot in the College Football Playoff and nearly pulled off an upset over the Texas Longhorns in the first round.

All‑American running back Cam Skettebo, now with the New York Giants, was one of the best players in the country. He rushed for 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns.

After transferring in from Michigan State, Quarterback Sam Leavitt was the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year. He threw for nearly 3,000 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just six interceptions.

While the Sun Devils remain bitter about their playoff overtime loss to Texas, they should be proud of the season they put together.

Now they seem to be taking full advantage of their roster-building opportunities. The addition of a player like Shanklin could set this team up for even more success—especially on the defensive side of the ball.
